One of the last film I have seen was production (maybe title is not really
encouraging) "I love you, Beth Cooper". When I was started to watch this, I was thinkig that
there was next, unambitious, American comedy for teenagers. I was very surprised, when I
wasn't falling asleep during the seance.
Dennis Cooverman, the biggest looser in High School, takes his opportunity during
delivering his orration at Graduation, to declare his love for Beth Cooper, the head
cheerleader. Everyone meeting in the hall are very startled, when they hear his declaration.
But a real shock is being experienced by Dennis, when Beth with her best friends appear in
his house this evening. Beth require the confirmation of his words. Girls also want to show
him how it entertains the youth of today. The atmosphere gets nasty, when Beth's muscular
and angered boyfirend, with his aggressive friend, visit Denni's house. That night become
adventurous and full of unexpexted returns of action.
Director of this film is Chris Columbus, famous for production and direction fims
such as "Home Alone" or "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone". Of course " I love you,
Beth Cooper" isn't so commercial that above-mentioned productions. Script for this film
was written by Larry Doyle. Leads actors are Hayden Panettiere as Beth, Paul Rust as
Dennis and Shawn Roberts as Kevin.
Plot of this film is fairly entertaining, maybe it may seem conventional. Although we
must remember that this is light and sometimes a bit empty comedy, which we can watch in
the evening, sitting on the couch with ice creams, when we had a bad day. Sometimes we
need films like this.
This production is a one big party, which takes places all the night. It is worth
watching even for tendentious, red cups on the parties, which we can see in every
American films. I'm not impressed of this production, but it can be a good way to spend free
time.
